On 25 September 2026, at the former Monastero degli Olivetani in Lecce, the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) of Lecce and the University of Salento took part in the European Researchers' Night 2026, presenting the activities of the GEMINI-GENESI project to the public.

The initiative, promoted by the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA & Citizens) and supported in Italy by the Ministry of University and Research, represents an annual key opportunity for dialogue between the research community and society, aiming to bring citizens and younger generations closer to science, technology, and innovation.

During the event, researchers from IIT-CBN Lecce and the University of Salento presented the objectives and activities of Gemini-Genesi through scientific posters. One poster provided an overarching introduction to the project and its goals, while the others highlighted research activities dedicated to the development of advanced technologies and their potential applications for personal monitoring and well-being.

As part of the same event within Innova Expo, Dr. Ferruccio Pisanello, project coordinator, also held an outreach and awareness session on project themes and goals, presenting the main research tracks, the technologies being developed, and their application prospects. The session offered an additional opportunity to introduce Gemini-Genesi to a broader audience and encourage discussion on the potential impacts of research and innovation on health and quality of life.

Participation in European Researchers' Night provided a valuable opportunity to share research results and activities with the local community, promoting direct dialogue among researchers, students, families, and citizens while showcasing the collaboration between research institutions and academia in developing new technologies for health and well-being.
