Istituto Neurologico Mediterraneo “Neuromed”, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Health as a Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Healthcare (IRCCS), is a highly specialized centre in the field of Neuroscience. At the heart of Neuromed mission there is a strong integration of healthcare, research and training. The Institute is home to a hospital of excellence in which diagnosis, treatment and research are performed at the highest level in the fields of neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, degenerative and chronic diseases, as well as rare nervous system pathologies. According to its translational mission, the hospital works in close cooperation with the research centre. This deep relationship aims to facilitate direct application of the most recent advances in healthcare, from bench to bedside. But “translational” is a two-way route: observations from clinical settings reach laboratories as well, inspiring new insights and new approaches on which researchers can investigate. Neuromed also has an active role in training and education. In collaboration with other scientific and academic institutions, such as “Sapienza” and “Tor Vergata” Universities, the Institute is home to graduate programs in the healthcare professions. Since 2026, Neuromed has its own University, the “UniNeuromed” University, which uniquely integrates university education, advanced scientific research, and excellent clinical practice, in structural synergy with the IRCCS I.N.M. Neuromed.
